Join The Adolphus on Thursday, October 11, as we launch The Salon, a monthly series of culture and conversations, curated by Lucia Simek in the French Room Salon.
Modeled after the 17th and 18th century French salon, in which an inspired host would open their home to guests for conversations on topics such as art, philosophy and literature, The Salon series will present a modern-day iteration wherein the hotel’s Salon becomes the living room.
The French Room Salon Series will kick off with Julie and Bruce Webb, directors of the beloved Webb Gallery in Waxahachie, Texas. An evening of punk rock sensibilities, the duo will share their personal accounts of seeking out the strangest and most fascinating artists – those that exist far outside the archetypal art world. The conversation will also explore self-taught Texan artists such as Ike Morgan, Ezekiel Gibbs, and Tom Burleson – whose works are on display in the Salon.
